Guide to Installing Vocal Presets On Pro Tools

You've come to the right place if you're a passionate singer, an aspiring vocal artist, or even a seasoned pro looking to sprinkle digital magic on your recordings. We’ll take your hands and guide you through installing a vocal preset on Pro Tools. So, grab your microphone, tune your vocal cords, and take the first step!

Step 1: Find the Perfect Vocal Preset File

Get your hands on a high-quality vocal preset file. You can search for ready-made Pro Tools vocal presets on our website or create one yourself.

Step 2:  Navigate to Avid Folder on Your Computer

Go to your finder or windows explorer and search for “Avid”. Next, copy the vocal preset (.pxtp file) you downloaded in the Avid folder.

Step 3: Launch the Latest Version of Pro Tools

Fire up Pro Tools and let the vocal magic unfold before your eyes and ears. Verify whether you have the latest version of Pro Tools installed. If not, don’t worry cause the procedure to install the vocal preset is pretty much the same throughout most versions of Pro Tools.

Create a new session with a unique name or open an existing one to apply the preset.

Step 5: Click on Track Presets

You’ll find “Track Presets” on the left-hand side of the dialogue box. Click on it and locate the preset you want to apply inside “Avid”.

You have a variety of selections available, from the default presets to the presets you’ve downloaded or created. Take your time, explore the options, and choose the vocal preset that resonates with your unique voice.

Simply drag and drop your preferred one onto the session, and boom, you’ve successfully applied a vocal preset.

Step 6: Adjust the Settings (optional)

While vocal presets are a fantastic starting point, they’re imperfect and sometimes may not even complement your audio. Thus you’ll need to tweak the settings and customize it as needed.

Play with the parameters and listen to how each modification affects your vocal sound. Remember, the goal is to highlight your voice. So, trust your ears, embrace experimentation, and let your intuition guide you as you adjust.

Alternate Method:

Add a new track to your session after launching the Pro Tools. You can use the hotkeys Cmd+Shift+N (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+N (Windows). Right-click on the track title, click “Recall Track Presets”, and apply the preset.
